About Me.

Hi, I’m Caro. I’m a trained communications designer, art psychotherapist and family therapist with a great passion for writing. I found my dream job in combining the skills of my professional backgrounds to create psychosocial media that support children and professionals who work with them.

As a therapist, I have worked with children, young people and families from different backgrounds (e.g. in England, Nepal, Ghana, South Africa and Germany). My strong interest in practicing with regards to sociopolitical contexts and the psychosocial wellbeing of marginalised groups informs my work until today. After many years of supporting my clients as a mental health and human rights worker, I have started to integrate my knowledge and skills with my former profession as a communications designer and illustrator.

I strongly believe that we can assist children in co-creating a world that celebrates diversity and social justice. Especially when we are young, the stories and media around us deeply impact on our perception of reality. Children’s books, psychosocial toolkits and pedagogical media can foster resilience and social responsibility. Thus, children can adopt a positive view on diversity and difference – in abilities, gender, body types, ethnicities, religion, class and many more.

I’m also a member of Designing for Children’s Rights, an international non-profit association that supports the rights of children in the design and development of products.
